A New Series Unfolding?

??? Series: The Third Eye
Encaustic & Mixed Media    19½ ” x 23½ ” unfinished

AS I acknowledged in the last blog, my personal impulse to create arises from a desire to reaffirm life & it’s mysterious energies; to visualize the more subtle structures that link humans and nature.  These are often sourced from esoteric traditions and exist outside of the space/time we are conditioned to perceive within our daily lives.

My dance with sacred geometry began with Spirograph in my childhood years; twirling those plastic gears around each other with a colored pen in a hole to create complex and dynamic forms based upon a circle.  I know now that the circle is an archetypal Water form; the line has no hard edges and in connecting the 2 ends, creates a container. Thus the water element In this piece is peaceful, like a placid lake; when you gaze into it’s clear depths, you can regain clarity of heart & mind.   Another prominent shape I often employ, (and in ‘The Third Eye’), is the square; a symbol of the Earth, it invokes a sense of solidity, structure and safety.

By repeating these 2 basic shapes (3 squares, 3 circles), patterns emerge; simplified, 3 is a number of creation, and 6 of harmony.  Another symbol, a cross, is also prominent: the horizontal axis aligns with receptive feminine energy, and the vertical masculine axis, connecting heaven and earth, aligns with action. I can speak of these aspects of the visual tools of sacred geometry, but typically only understand other visual aspects of a work after it is complete.  So I’ll have more to say about the ‘eye’ components once the work is complete.

How a piece unfolds is really a mysterious process, allowing me to surrender my innate human need to control, and is undeniably healing to my soul.

I hope that the work inspires a similar experience in the viewer, and ultimately that it enhances your personal vibration, centering you within.  If you have any thoughts to continue the conversation, please …email Debbie       As of yet, I don’t know the theme of this new Series I’ve embarked upon, thus the ??? Series… any ideas?
