One gift of studying astrology, is ever-deepening self-knowledge. Recently, a significant personal character trait came to light in a different manner I’d recognized in the past. I am both extremely warm-hearted, passionate, generous, and yet can be aloof, even distant, certainly detached. I don’t believe I have fully integrated that latter trait. Perhaps I’ve even disowned it to a certain degree, believing it to be ‘cold’ in a bad sort of way. The stereotypical Aquarius person is said to ‘love humanity, but dislike humans. For myself, the ruler of Aquarius, Uranus, is conjunct (was in the same place in space as…) the sun in my birth chart; both are in Leo. Uranus is challenged to find its natural energy in Leo, and yet it is co-present, meaning I need to find middle ground. My soul is both heart and head ruled, and sometimes an unresolved inner battle is more present than middle ground. I listen deeply with my heart to a friend’s emotional trials, yet find it difficult to share my own vulnerabilities – I intellectualize feelings. Yoga has taught me how to allow feelings to flow through me, but the emotional language of the heart, gets co-opted by the analytical when it comes to sharing. These tensions can only be resolved by allowing both to exist, their interdependence expressing a unique approach, to my life path.
We are all such unique beings, with our own star map. As I continue to explore my personal creativity through art-making, I am also looking to be a part of the dialogue for how humanity can emerge into a more conscious version of itself. To implode conventions that restrict our evolution, and disseminate information through visuals and language that teases out new ideas and methodologies of how our templated energy can shift, needs to shift. I continue to explore the merging desires for personal creativity, independence and service to humanity, based in innovative approaches to problem solving for the masses. This begins and continues with the practices of envisioning and speaking new possibilities into the ethers, including on social media. With that intro, I invite you to ponder these 2 new visions recently completed.

Gazing from the center is otter, calling your attention, your inner child that needs play. In Native American belief systems, the otter is revered as a powerful symbol of joy, playfulness, adaptability, and resilience. It embodies the importance of maintaining a balanced, harmonious connection with the natural world and one’s community.
Play engages the frequencies of light-heartedness, joy, and love; but do not mistake this for foolishness, as play is the heart of connection. Let this desire be at the heart of your daily life, bubbling good vibes out into the world.

Consider this magnanimous creature that lives in water, yet breaths air, dives to depths of 2,000 to 3,280 feet, under water for durations of 45 to 90 minutes. Across various indigenous worldviews, the sperm whale’s immense size, intelligence, and deep-diving nature symbolize introspection, resilience, navigating life’s depths, and a profound connection between the physical and spiritual realms. As mammal, whale is direct kin to human, reflecting the unique emotional depths, memory and attunement with waters. Anyone, (myself included) that has looked into the eye, and telepathically communicated with whale, knows their wisdom. From the depths of their watery home, they continue to guide humanity to love, to return to stewarding the vast oceans, as they are the life blood of creation. I imagine whales serenading the water, air and ethers with a resonance that sparks ‘junk’ human DNA to life. Upon the activation of dormant wisdom, arises the knowledge needed at this precarious moment in time on Earth, for the shift into co-existence with all life forms.
The playful, heart-centered otter, is the essence of Sun/Leo’; the inner child that desires playful expression, acknowledgement (watch me!) and yes, holds a sincere desire for all to feel good. The whale, inhabiting depths, moving through vast waters, is more akin to Uranus/Aquarius, independent, yet living in/from a global perspective. Tuning to whale frequency may provide some deep insights for humanity to live holistically within Gaia. Together, personal and planetary are needed to move towards a brighter future.
I know we are all being asked to shift; how is that arising for you?
What are you noticing and shifting? How do you tether your personal and planetary roles?
