I have a lot of Leo placements in my astrological natal chart – meaning the heart rules. Recall the cowardly Lion of Wizard of Oz, needing to access his courage, (the root word, Coeur is the French word for ‘heart’), in order to become his ‘brave soul self’.  All sorts of mis-adventures, tension, trials and tribulations require  him to grow, move past his fears, and become the brave Self he was meant to become. A life fully responsive to an engaged heart, is essential.  Leo is also the eternal child of the zodiac; loving to play, imagine and create; tapping into creation energies is what allows a Leo person to shine.  For a strong Leo personality to fulfil their dharma, they also need to support others to shine, through encouragement, loyalty and illuminating another’s gifts.

To live a conventional life, in a world demanding allegiance to roles and rules, especially as a woman, is poison for the Leo heart and soul.  In order to live fully, each day a creative act, requires deep attunement with the heart.  I need to continually assess what lights me up, brings a smile to my face, and expands my heart.  This criterion isn’t just for Leo’s… it’s a methodology everyone can use to keep growing, living fully, not following the protocol of contracting with age. That isn’t to deny energy wanes, and some physical and mental activities get more difficult as we age, but it’s a choice to continue exploring, to embrace life. It’s scary and enthralling to close out old identities, and conjure up new ones.

This is what life asks of us… to constantly dig deep inside, to explore the next layer, to peel back what is disguising the soul’s deeper yearnings. I studied biology and greatly respect science as a tool for understanding life, yet, the mystical has always pulled me into much greater depths.  It is here that I can plug into frequencies that allow me to connect to life itself at a much deeper level. I find myself at such a place in my life now; I’m exploring all sorts of things, from volunteering, writing more, changing relationships, and widening the media used in my art making. Bringing that inner child on board to explore new potential, in this vast and changing multi-dimensional world.

The most recent pieces I’ve created reveal this exploration symbolically.

Stalking the Heart is about my inner lioness attuning to what is reverberating within the field, following that which connects, enlivening my energy. Moving towards that which calls, both heart and soul. It’s essential I acknowledge the sun as my ruler; it’s imperative I am able to shine my light. Not to stoke a flailing ego, but to be a guiding light. There are limitless possibilities for how desires and creation can manifest. But the process is important; it requires vigilance to know when to (metaphorically) pounce and to protect what is worth keeping.  Attuned to heart and soul, with laser focus, leaping with courage, and sharing the boons with the pride.

What makes your life meaningful at this time?
How are the current Earth energies influencing your focus? Are you casting off any old identities? Embracing new ones?
