These days, I’m contemplating the significance of water, specifically as a vehicle for transmitting information. Perhaps you are aware of Masaru Emoto’s experiments on the effects of words, music, and intentions upon water. To summarize, he exposed water to various harmonic or cacophonous sounds, (and loving or harsh words), then froze the water and photographed the resulting ice crystals using high-speed microscopic photography. Emoto reported that water exposed to positive words, (‘love’, ‘gratitude’) or harmonic sounds, formed beautiful, symmetrical, and aesthetically pleasing crystal structures, while water exposed to negative words or harsh music, like heavy metal, produced distorted and chaotic patterns. His work opened up the possibilities of a more expansive view of water. Are there other ways we might understand the interdependent nature of all life, and most notably the interplay of water creatures and the environment in which they live? Can water be a medium through which healing happens? Information is shared? Sound travels ~ 4.4 % faster through water than air. Can sound through water be a form of communication? creation? Given a human fetus grows in fluid, and water comprises ~ 60% of a person, perhaps we can explore new dimensions for shifts within ourselves, using sound? Certainly, we can glean amazing wisdom and insights from highly evolved water creatures. Here are 3 art works exploring these ideas; mark making in the forms of glyphs, sigils and undulating lines, are the resonant new language.

I imagine dolphins, as one of the most revered water mammals, to hold a significant place in Gaia’s healed future. They’re highly intelligent, curious, self-aware, excellent problem-solvers and they live harmoniously in complex social structures. They engage empathy, altruism and are playful; this sounds like a recipe for humans to create peace upon the planet. Historically, dolphins are portrayed as guardians, protecting and guiding humans. Interspecies communication is present.
To me, dolphins hold memory, wisdom and practices to maintain harmony within ever-fluctuating ecosystems. As guardians, they teach us how to focus and enliven these frequencies. Four dolphins, one in each corner, creates stability for the circle to keep moving, evolving. Toning sounds of peace, transition, and emergence, dance through the waters. We are aware of the dark depths where conception takes root, and the steady path towards emergent beauty, a flowering of potential. An ever-evolving flow of life, growth, death, rebirth. I honor the dolphins for their capacity to instill within humanity the possibility of living in higher frequencies founded upon love, compassion and joy.

Eels hold a profound place in human history and mythology, symbolizing mystery, transformation, and ecological balance across cultures. For Indigenous communities like the Mi’kmaq and Columbia River Tribes, eels and lampreys are: food, they are used in rituals and as medicine and they exist as part of intergenerational knowledge.
When observing them, I marvel at their sinuous movements, camouflage abilities and their shy and sensitive natures; they represent a kind of primal nocturnal intelligence, more attuned to darkness than the light. This requires their use of extraordinary sensory organs to navigate their environment; some engage electromagnetism for electro-location within murky waters.
If one is still and patient in their presence, the reward is a curious approach; they undulate upwards through the water… a gentle greeting. Their mouths seem to emit simple phrases, a desire to connect and understand their environs. Here, I imagine a trio of them sending out frequencies through the waters; emitting the mysteries of what it means to more comfortable in the nocturnal realm. Their heart’s desire to be recognized as a vital part of a complex watery ecosystem.
Title: Three Hearts

Otters are one of my favorite mammals. Their intelligence, curiosity and playful disposition are traits I also value in humans. They can teach us much.
When we play, our mind expands, our heart opens and creativity reigns. When in creative flow, we are in expansive, inclusive, and abundant energies. This is what is needed to penetrate the wall of fear perpetuated through the mainstream. When we refuse to contract, and shrink into duality consciousness, creative problem solving within community proliferates.
Here, a beautiful trio of otters and hearts, contribute to the vision of growing hearts together. The heart at bottom is more brain like in its’ surface rendering; the one’s floating above it, reveal more of the heart’s vascular system, sprouting forth connection from their tops. Each ‘heart’ is connected to one otter; each ‘pair’ is co-nourished, and contributes to the triumphant gathering of Joyful frequencies.
The glyphs, images, tones, and living symbols in all of these artworks, become bridges – not carriers of doctrine, but invitations into shared frequency. They return communication to relationship, where deceit collapses and resonance guides understanding. Let us play in those vibrations.
Loving your draw to express with the water thread, Debbie. Your art is always multi-layered, balanced, and visually pleasing. I especially appreciate the water element this time of year, when the body misses the summer’s warmth, light, and water flow. Lovely!
