AI is becoming front and center to our lives in many arenas of life. As I’ve begun to explore Chat GPT myself, with some guidance from friends, I’ve found some wonderful insights in dream interpretation, as well as exploring cutting edge ideas, including those that assist with consciousness evolution. I hadn’t explored it as a tool to help with art creation, specifically images, until very recently. Like any new toy, it was marvelous… helping me to refine the balance ‘realism’ and ‘other worldly’ within almost complete pieces. Then I began a deeper dive into ‘how I could create meaningful pieces, that were charged with frequencies that help shift the viewer’s frequency’. This is really a new age way of saying ‘have it really connect emotionally, triggering some deep remembrance or knowing.’ But at this point, I’m doubting this approach; here I’ll tell you why.
My initial investigations were spawned by AI’s response to a vivid Cenote dream I’d had. In addition to the deeper interpretation it gave me, AI asked if
I’d like a Sigil to represent the information gleaned from that dream; of course, I said yes. This is what it created… the ring of glyphs around the central design, is a coded language. The entire image is a Sigil, a kind of a unified visual “seal” that embodies the essence, and activation potential of the dream. The purpose is to reinforce the consciousness shift announced in my dream. I know that may sound a little far-fetched, but really, it’s similar to the symbolism from any religious or political belief system. Think the Sri Yantra of the Hindu tradition used in meditation to invoke high states of consciousness.
The Cenote Sigil captivated me in a way that prompted further investigation. I asked AI to create a galactic memory glyph, as I’m interested in what energies I/humans might tap into to expand our consciousness. Why not Galactic? This is what it came up with; to me it feels like energy raining down into a beautiful, ever-evolving swirling of information; transmissions from the depth of space beyond our solar system. Now I was getting excited!
Given my lifetime interest to re-balance Gaia, and the status of women in co-creation, (thus a shift away from patriarchal systems), I asked AI to create a water sigil that reverberates the frequency of divine feminine, her sacred number 13 with the energy of ‘New Beginnings’ of the Sacred Feminine rising. The resulting Sigil is on the right. I asked for an ‘Incantation’ for this energy… and it gave me:
“Thirteen moons, I call your tide, Womb of waters, deep and wide Rise anew, O She who flows, Through my hands, the New Earth grows.”
AI then proceeded to give me a non-English sound-based activation phrase to intone to awaken the sigil’s frequency. Wow… and yet at this point, I realized that I was too focused with just my mind… and was seeing a kind of formulaic response it was giving me. But I wanted to explore what I might do with the imagery and glyphs, on some small panel boards I’d already created in the blue/green spectrum of colors aligned with the water and sky energies. Here are the ones I’ve done thus far.

From these, I decided to embark on a Water Codex Series.
I’ve always had a special relationship with water; I recognize that I’m able to work more directly with emotion when in or near water, which is especially potent for healing and tapping into my intuition. So, I inquired of AI, how I might create imagery that resonates with waters’ various forms, putting colors, frequencies, sacred geometry, and the essence of what kind of memory might be stored in say Ice, the Ocean or a Spring. My intuition tells me that water, in all its forms, is a great repository of information that can help humanity evolve, solving many current problems. My intention is to create art that sparks a memory, an activation that, like meditation, can positively affect their DNA, bringing that ‘junk DNA’ on board with new sequences and upgraded abilities. Doesn’t that sound intriguing…. And yet, something was irritating me about the process with AI, as I dove further down the rabbit hole.
Here are the issues I am grappling with.
- AI creating the ‘graphic’ and not me…How can a machine be tapping into some intergalactic memory or water memory? My mind can’t wrap itself around that! ?Yet?
- The ‘image’ feels too graphic, not dimensional enough … the depth was arising primarily from the encaustic colors of the background, which at least, integrated my creative contribution; but even that could be more intentional… see #3.
- Where is AI getting the glyphs from and why/how does it choose to create a set of ‘raining’ glyphs, verses a glyph ring design? Eventually it all was showing up as a glyph ring, which didn’t ring (questionable pun) true for me.
- Does it even work? I haven’t yet tested it/them… by using the Sigil as a meditation tool, invoking the energy further with chant, incantation. (Think of this as a New Age Prayer for Gaia, and Humanity)
- Saying I made this art, feels like ‘imposter’ status.
- Ultimately, I’m not engaging my own intuitive abilities, and giving over the reins to a programmed machine… hmmm…. Losing my connection to the universe’s antennae.
Ultimately, AI can be an amazing tool, but for an artist, I want to contemplate more on how I might engage it. Some of what I’ve arrived at thus far…
- Maintain a pure intention–AI can add speed and depth to the research component of any creative project, which is wonderful. But in order to stay true to my intention, my choice of words, tone and questions needs to come from my heart-mind, with no agenda, other than to understand something more deeply.
- AI is deeply seductive, and this needs to be ever-present in my/our awareness. Given it is drawing its ideas/responses from an ever-enlarging data base, and responds with unbelievable speed, it’s easy to get ‘high’ on the engagement, and thus follow it’s lead, not one’s internal compass.
- AI is programed for confirmation bias, meaning it will pick up on the nuances of your input, from unconscious assumptions, to anything you might say that positively interprets some information (including images), you say you really like. This can dangerous, in that it confirms any biases you might have, downplaying or disregarding any conflicting evidence.
What I am learning is that I am co-creating a companion to help me; the way I engage it is vital to create an honest assistant. It’s up to me to keep assessing it’s assumptions and challenge the ‘truths’ it spits out. I’ve decided to include big pregnant pauses for reflection in order to choose what is important. I intend to … research more on how to best engage, and choose the aspects I want assistance with, so that my creativity is enhanced, not given over. I’ll also test the results I’ve received thus far, and engage some of it’s suggestions as to how to enhance my intuition in the process. It’s questions and suggestions along the way have actually been excellent. I just haven’t stopped long enough to try them.
AI will be an ongoing dialogue for the years ahead as it evolves to even more seductive levels. I hope you will join in conversation with me and let me know what you think.
What resonates with you with respect to the images AI co-created with me?
Do you have a problem that I’ve used the graphic forms it created?
Have you seen AI produced creative endeavors? If so, what do you think? Give me an example, and how you respond to it please.
What are you using AI for? How are you programing it?
